Hotel History
The hotel was built in 1947 by Mr. Eric Stansfield and originally named the Cedarwood hotel. The pleasant woodland surroundings were achieved by constructing the 21-bedroom building of Canadian timber, a combination which created a building of grace and dignity in a setting of incomparable beauty. The Louis Group purchased the hotel in 2003, with one goal in mind – to restore the hotel to its deserved status as an elegant boutique hotel and the social hub of the Devon Valley. In 2008, 20 new rooms known as the Vineyard rooms was built and the restaurant and reception area refurbished and enlarged.
