Divan Istanbul, Turkey’s first five-star hotel, was established in 1956 and offered 97 guestrooms. The hotel earned the distinct ISO 9001 Quality Management Certification in 1998, and in 2008 closed for construction to expand the hotel to over 27,000 square meters. Divan Istanbul reopened in September 2011 as a deluxe 191-guestroom hotel designed by Thierry Despont.
